the grinch

"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more."
(T. Seuss)

see you around

The last couple of days were filled with finishing off work, saying goodbyes, skyping and packing. And guess what? My backpack is only 9.5kg! Can you believe? No extra shoes packed. See, I can if I want to.

So dear readers and friends, tomorrow we will be heading to the airport. I am beyond excited and can still not believe that I will be on the road for some time. Not working. Not commuting. With husband. Getting to know new cultures. Savoring new tastes. Discovering nature. And cities. And animals. Having time. And the liberty of deciding each day what we want to do next.

I still don't know if I will be posting while traveling. But I will be back for sure with loads of new impressions and a fully recharged battery in May.

Keep well you all, xoxoxo

PS: Here's a little video from the cartoon RIO my friend sent over the other day to get us in the mood! Enjoy the energy. :)

love ever after

Love ever after photography by Lauren Fleishman

Remember this post from almost two years ago? Now I found out that two of the pictures are from Lauren Fleishman's project Love Ever After! The series features couples that have been married for over 50 years. Heart swelling.

Happy Monday all!

backpack packing

heart shoe clip
This time next week we'll be on the way to the airport, leaving for our little adventure, discovering little parts of the huge continent that Sout America is. I am so excited!

Soon we'll be packing our backpacks. We've gotten all the things we need (or think we might need) I guess. Actually I love traveling with little baggage. Combing my hair much less than at home and traveling with not much more than sunscreen and mascara is somewhat liberating. But, and here it comes: I just found out that I am  not that easy anymore. What about accessories? What about shoes? Is four pairs of shoes (one can not even call them shoes as we are talking about trekking shoes, flip flops, sneakers and one pair of sandals) really enough for two months? :) . And why am I only to take one scarf with me? Here we go, girl packing. Well I know that as soon as we are on the road, none of the belongings back home will matter.

Meanwhile I'll figure out what I will do with this little place while traveling. I'll try to post about our experiences on the road once in a while. But knowing myself I rather like to disconnect and indulge when traveling. Plus we will also be hitting remote areas that won't have the best of internet connections. So... there will be a little break over hear. Unless anyone wants to take over?
Happy weekend to you all, enjoy whatever you are up to! xoxo

thursday in style: travel outfit

travel outfit

Big pashmina: Double function as scarf at the airport and blanket on the flight.
Comfortable sweater.
Baggy jeans or leggings.
Shoes that one can easily get rid of (before security check or to put on some socks on the plane before taking in a sleeping position).
Huge bag: Home to all books, travel planners, music and other belongings close to our hearts.
Sunglasses to cover dark circles. :)
Plus: A beanie or hat if your hair happens to be as messy as mine after a long flight.

Ready for take off?!
