picking flowers

Today I went to pick out the flowers for our big day. And of course - and even if the decision was hard amongst so many beautiful flowers....ahhh I loved all of them....alll white and pink ones - there will be a lot of peonies, what else! I just love them. Now let's hope the weather is not too cold and not too hot :) so they are still blooming in mid June.

THE question

Did I ever tell you how we got engaged? It was the most beautiful moment. While on holiday in Thailand, we were lucky enough to be in Phuket during Loy Kratong which takes place on the 12th month of the traditional Thai lunar calendar.

Originally Loy Kratong was a ceremony to honour the big Buddha, Siddharta. Apart from that and to thank for water, the act of floating away the candle raft is symbolic of letting go of all one's struggles, grudges and anger to start life afresh.Nowadays Thais celebrate Loy Kratong to thank and pay honour to the Goddess of water. They put all these little hand made rafts, made from banana leafs and holding pretty flowers and a candle in the water. The swimming pools, rivers, the ocean - all are full of little rafts and lights. They also let Khom Fais float in the air so that not only the water is brigthened by lights, but the sky is filled with light from floating Kohm Fais, too. It looks so magical, almost unreal.

So after a very spicy dinner we headed to the beach to be part of this awesome ceremony. We lit our own little raft and let a Khom Fai float in the air with the help of two kind Thais, thanking for all the good things in our lifes. We spent hours looking at the ocean and the sky -all filled with lights- talking to Thais, looking at the fireworks, having a beer or two. While walking back to the hotel, Giu suddenly stopped by a little pond in the hotel park. I looked at him and suddenly understood what was coming next. He looked so nervous and had tears in his eyes. You can imagine what came next. It was magic and one of the most beautiful and intense moments of my life so far.
